Friday 19th February A Bridge Too Far

The last and final leg....

Boats were loaded in Purton, on the muddy banks of the River Severn. We fought the oncoming tide for 2 miles with heavy winds and huge waves it seemed like we were paddling the big wide ocean. After tackling the tides it turned around and we were paddling with the sea on our side. Once the tide changed we were zooming down the river picking up speeds up to 9mph, however our arms could have told a different story! Our first bridge was in site, this was our first and last stop off point for a quick bite to eat. At this point we could see our finishing line that we had longed to see for a long and grueling 6 days. The last 3 miles to the finish line seemed like a life time, as we approached the second bridge we could see Laurianne and Lee with a celebratory bottle of bubbly!

We would like to thank everybody for all your efforts and support through out our journey. Thank you to all those who have sponsored us and kindly given donations.

once again a massive thank you from the Longtown team we couldnt have done it with out you!

The Team: MIke, Lee, Ewan, Rae, Tom, Alice, Pete, Laurianne and Cindy
